Project mediation – also known as Project Integrated Mediation (PRIME) – is an effective method for managing disagreements on an ongoing basis in collaborative projects before they develop into formal disputes.
The purpose is to ensure progress and effective collaboration by identifying and resolving issues relating to, for example, quality, cost, scope and schedule at an early stage.
With project mediation, the parties gain a shared, practical tool that strengthens communication, prevents conflicts and ensures the prompt and effective handling of disagreements.

Why choose project mediation?
Project mediation establishes a clear framework from the outset for managing unresolved issues, preventing them from accumulating and damaging the collaboration. It provides better oversight, reduces the risk of conflict escalation and minimises financial losses.
It does not guarantee that every disagreement will be resolved, but it ensures the ongoing clarification of what can be resolved jointly – and what must be decided by an expert, arbitration or litigation.

How it works
Project mediation is typically agreed in advance through a PRIME clause included in the contract – but it can also be established at a later stage.
The parties appoint one or more project mediator(s) at the start of the project and enter into a PRIME agreement, which sets out the framework for cooperation with the project mediator.
The project mediator is available throughout the project and helps ensure progress, clarity and effective collaboration.
